Last month I found myself in a rustic tent camp in the sandhills region of Nebraska with a number of other outdoor media folk from around the country and even Canada. We all came to accomplish the same goal: kill a Merriam turkey.
On the first evening, we drove through winding hills as red dust and gravel scattered behind the flatbed, the kind of country that feels bigger the farther you get into it. Birds were everywhere.
