If all goes as planned, Ohio’s spring turkey hunters should kill a tick over 16,000 birds this spring.
There remains a one-bird bag limit per hunter for the season that kicks off in the South Zone on April 25 and in the Northeast Zone on May 2. The closing dates are May 24 in the South Zone and May 31 in the Northeast Zone.
The South Zone is opening a bit later this year, according to Mark Wiley, the ODNR Division of Wildlife’s turkey biologist.
