As a child growing up in a suburb just east of downtown Columbus, Ohio, I never really imagined that I would ever become a hunter.
My father, a World War II U.S. Coast Guard/U.S. Navy veteran, who later became a professor with his masters degree and Ph.d., taught me how to fish at an early age. He also instructed me in any sport that interested me … baseball, football, and basketball.
