How whitetail bucks pull off one of the great regeneration tricks in nature

Around 20 million years ago, the first members of the cervidae family hit the scene.
These early ancestors were a far cry from the modern whitetails they’d eventually become, but one thing they did have were bony protrusions on their heads. These, as you can imagine, provided the springboard for the antlers we see today on the bucks we love.
