Grop-en-gi-ser. The name doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. Spend a day on the water with him, however, and his name and the outing will stick in your mind.
“I got called a lot of things in school,” Dan Gropengiser said. The shorthand “Grop” stuck, and he took that name for his guide service. A lifelong Rhinelander resident, Gropengiser has fished the lakes and rivers of Wisconsin’s Vilas and Oneida counties since early childhood.
