I’ll say it right up front: I don’t truly understand the reasoning behind the Ohio DNR Division of Wildlife’s banning archery from the fall turkey hunt.
The Division of Wildlife proposed the archery ban a couple of months ago and the Ohio Wildlife Council voted to approve the ban just recently. The new rule will be in effect for this fall’s turkey hunt. For the record, the Division of Wildlife’s lead turkey biologist, Mark Wiley, told me this when asked for an explanation:
