Pennsylvania hatcheries produce ‘banner year’ for trout

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission found a way to deter birds at its hatcheries, and it resulted in a banner year for trout production.
In fact, the number of trout raised at state hatcheries was so good that the agency was able to send 20,000 brown trout to New Jersey for its stocking program. In exchange, Pennsylvania will receive an allotment of warm water species yet to be determined.

Steve Sarley: Forward-facing sonar is anglers’ personal choice, but not mine

I was watching the recent Bassmaster Classic that was being streamed live on the Internet. I called my wife over to my computer and asked her to take a look at the screen and tell me what she was watching.

Pennsylvania Game agency OKs final 2026-27 hunting seasons

Pennsylvania game commissioners gave final approval to the 2026-27 hunting and trapping seasons and bag limits at their April 11 meeting.
The commissioners decided that rifle deer season will begin the Saturday after Thanksgiving again this year, but several made comments indicating that the board is still exploring the possibility of moving the season before the holiday in future years.
