State upgrading boat ramp on Ohio’s Deer Creek Lake

Improvements are being made to the west boat ramp at Deer Creek Lake in Central Ohio. This is the ramp closest to Pancoastburg. This ramp can be especially busy for people boating or fishing at Deer Creek who live in Fayette County or other areas west of the lake.
The old ramp concrete was very deteriorated with potholes. The concrete that extended into the lake did not provide adequate docking or bumper protection for boats.

Stocking exemptions set on Pennsylvania’s wild trout streams

Pennsylvania Fish & Boat commissioners reviewed fishing regulation changes to several waterways and stocking exemptions on some wild trout streams during their Jan. 30 meeting.

Final Ohio deer kill tops 200,000 for fourth straight year

Ohio hunters checked 232,142 white-tailed deer during the 2025-26 season that concluded on Sunday, Feb. 1, according to the Ohio DNR (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
The season total includes all deer taken during archery, gun, muzzleloader, and youth seasons since Sept. 13, 2025. This is the seventh highest total on record, topping 200,000 for the fourth consecutive season.

Pennsylvania Fish & Boat agency releases 2026 trout-stocking schedule

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission recently released its 2026 stocking schedule to distribute about 3.2 million trout in 684 streams and 130 lakes across Pennsylvania.
In addition to trout raised at state fish hatcheries, commission cooperative nurseries operated by sportsmen’s clubs and other groups across the state will add another 1.1 million trout to waters open to public angling throughout the year.
