Pennsylvania sets daily limits for Lake Erie perch, walleyes

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission announced April 21 that the 2026 creel limit for Lake Erie yellow perch will remain at 30 per day and the creel limit for walleyes will stay at six per day.
The commission’s Lake Erie Research Unit evaluates the populations of yellow perch and walleyes in Lake Erie annually.

Pennsylvania Fish & Boat agency releases 2026 trout-stocking schedule

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission recently released its 2026 stocking schedule to distribute about 3.2 million trout in 684 streams and 130 lakes across Pennsylvania.
In addition to trout raised at state fish hatcheries, commission cooperative nurseries operated by sportsmen’s clubs and other groups across the state will add another 1.1 million trout to waters open to public angling throughout the year.

Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission finishes its slate of winter trout stocking on ice

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission stocked more than 1,000 rainbow trout at Locust Lake State Park in Schuylkill County Dec. 16 in one of its final trout stockings of 2025.
While most of its trout stocking is done into streams and lakes in the spring when 3.2 million trout are stocked statewide, the commission stocks about 130,000 trout into 100 popular waterways during fall and winter.

Grants available in Pennsylvania’s York, Lancaster watersheds

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission recently announced that grant funding opportunities are available to fund stream habitat improvement projects through the York and Lancaster Counties Habitat Improvement Program.
Funding for the grant program is being provided by two sources, the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station and the Muddy Run Pumped Storage Project.

No trout stocking at Pennsylvania’s Lake Luxembourg

Agency staff told commissioners they have not proposed to remove Lake Luxembourg from the Stocked Trout Waters Open to Year-Round Fishing program until this time because additional water quality sampling by the DEP could have resulted in the consumption advisory being revised to be less inclusive of the entire basin.
