During a weather event that only occurs an average of 18 times per year worldwide – a “Bomb Cyclone” – that was predicted days in advance dropped temperatures Dec. 27-28 from nearly 60 degrees to the 20s overnight and created hurricane force winds in parts of Lake Erie.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) called for occasional waves up to 26 feet to form Dec. 28-29 in the open waters off Geneva to Conneaut in Ohio and in the Eastern Basin near Buffalo.
