How will Minnesota’s recently-set 2025 deer regulations impact this season?

Coming off two mild winters, the Minnesota DNR will this year increase lottery limits in some deer permits areas or harvest limits in 25 of the 130 DPAs in the state. 
“The northern part of the state is still struggling, but for the most part, we’re optimistic, so that’s why we raised bag limits in a number of DPAs or kept the majority the same,” said the DNR’s acting big-game coordinator, Paul Burr.

Maybe it’s just the fisherman in him, ever hopeful that the next tug on the line will bring a record fish to the surface. But Frank Healy hasn’t given up on the prospect of launching his pedal kayak in the waters of the Pepacton Reservoir here once again.
It’s been six years since the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) banned the use of drive-powered kayaks on the upstate reservoirs that provide drinking water for the largest city on the East Coast.

Chicago chef to highlight culinary take on Copi at Illinois State Fair

Chicago Chef Maurice Jackson will host visitors to this year’s Illinois State Fair with his culinary take on Copi, the name given to invasive carp via DNR’s rebranding campaign.
Jackson has a Copi booth in the popular Conservation World during the 2025 Illinois State Fair, which runs through Aug. 17.
