The 2025-2026 Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp – commonly known as the Duck Stamp – went on sale recently. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation recently announced several proposed regulation changes to streamline use and reporting of hunting tags and provide new deer hunting opportunities.
The proposed regulations consists of three components: using electronic hunting tags and revising the harvest reporting time period; providing enhancements for youth deer hunters; and making improvements to the Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP).

The early-March deadline for the Minnesota DNR to roll out its revamped electronic license system for users to buy fishing and hunting licenses or register recreational vehicles has come and gone with no new system in place. And after missing the deadline, no new launch date has been set for the system to go live.
