Jeremiah Haas: Is integrating technology into outdoor experiences a good thing?

The use of technology in the outdoors is always going to be debated, but bringing more people to the outdoors or having better experiences will ultimately enhance the outdoors, Haas writes. Technology is a normal part of life, otherwise we would still be riding horses and cooking food over an open fire. Innovation typically occurs when there is a necessity or when it increases the efficiency of a process. Fifty or 60 years ago, nobody dreamed we would have tablets, earpiece communicators or smartphones that have more computing power than NASA had when it sent astronauts to the moon.
Hunting and fishing are not exempt from this trend either.
