New York’s Earlville Conservation Club honors big buck contest winners

Sherburne, N.Y. — The Earlville Conservation Club, in Madison County, N.Y., once again held its annual big buck contest dinner, at the Sherburne American Legion Family Post 876. The evening featured awards to a number of successful deer hunters taking mature whitetail bucks who had entered the club’s annual Big Buck Contest.

The top three bucks were taken all taken by gun hunters, including the top prize, a 9-pointer shot by Art Fleming that scored 1301⁄8 inches (net). Second plays was a Bill Orth’s 10-pointer that scored 125-7⁄8, while third place was Ricardo Grisolini, who also took a 9-pointer that scored 113 5⁄8 .

The club inducted Harold Coleman, Skip Deiss, James Shimer an d Pete Walrod as lifetime members. The evening also featured a presentation by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Aquatics Biologist 2: Scott Prindle who discussed a number of projects on damns and culverts to benefit fish habitat.
