Most of us who enjoy spending time in the outdoors readily recognize the recreational value of owning wooded land – having a place to hunt, hike, camp, view wildlife, and more.
Wooded land also can provide economic benefits through periodic managed timber harvests that provide income through the sale of saw logs, bolts (short logs or sections of a large log, usually less than 8 feet long), and pulpwood. However, selling timber from your land may well represent one of the largest financial transactions you’ll ever make.
