The Pennsylvania Game Commission is asking for the public’s help finding turkey flocks to trap for ongoing projects.
Pennsylvanians are encouraged to report the location of any turkey flocks they see across the state. Information is being collected online now through March 15.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service plans to decommission out-of-service water wells at four boat-to campgrounds in the Bradford Ranger District of the Allegheny National Forest. The sites are located at Handsome Lake, Hooks Brooks, Hopewell, and Pine Grove Boat Access campgrounds in Elk and Mead Townships of Warren County.

Raised at Full Draw will once again be offering youth bowhunting camps in Pennsylvania. Designed for the 11-17 year old age group, the camps will follow the curriculum of Today’s Bowhunter, which is the National Bowhunting Education Foundation’s manual.
Attendees will not only learn about archery and bowhunting, but earn their bowhunting education certificate as well. In addition, attendees may also earn their Pennsylvania Hunter-Trapper Education card.

Hunting license sales are up for the second consecutive year in Michigan, but officials aren’t optimistic the trend will continue long term.
Through Jan. 15, the number of individuals who purchased a deer hunting license was 1.7% higher than the same date last year, with 604,005 buyers in the 2024-25 season, versus 593,877 in 2023-24, Brian Frawley, survey coordinator for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, told Michigan Outdoor News.

Environmental groups concerned about loss of protections for vanishing animals see one of President Donald Trump’s early executive orders as a method of subverting the Endangered Species Act in the name of fossil fuel extraction and corporate interests.
Trump declared an energy emergency via executive order earlier this week amid a promise to “drill, baby, drill.” One section of the order states that the long-standing Endangered Species Act can’t be allowed to serve as an obstacle to energy development.

Results from the Wisconsin DNR’s largest deer and chronic wasting disease (CWD) study ever undertaken show that the disease substantially reduces deer survival rates, and suppresses deer population growth.
Dr. Dan Storm, DNR ungulate research scientist, reported the results of the seven-year study in southwest Wisconsin to the Natural Resources Board Jan. 22.
“People should expect to see fewer deer in areas of high CWD prevalence,” Storm said. “Deer are not going to go extinct, but there will be fewer of them.”
