Three men plead guilty for hunting violations in Ohio

Christopher M. Waters, 44, of Loris, South Carolina, recently pleaded guilty in Mount Vernon Municipal Court to a total of 12 hunting violations for deer and turkey in Knox County, according to the Ohio DNR (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
A Division of Wildlife investigation revealed that Waters committed wildlife violations from December 2022 to November 2023 while visiting Ohio.

Will Pennsylvania’s deer opener debate be resolved this legislative session? Hearing set for Feb. 3

As the new legislative session gets underway in Pennsylvania, the push to restore the Monday opening day of deer season will once again be the focus of a hearing.
State Rep. Brian Smith, R-Punxsutawney, confirmed that a hearing is scheduled before the House Game and Fisheries Committee. The hearing will be held on Feb. 3.

Ice anglers running full tilt in Ohio after sudden cold blast

It is never certain how long it will last, but at the time of this writing on Jan. 19, ice fishing is underway in certain locations on Ohio’s north coast. 
Going from temperatures that were over 50 degrees after Christmas that allowed the Miller Boat Line to continue ferry service to South Bass (Put-in-Bay) until Jan. 2 to frozen water as far as the eye could see a week later was a weather surprise that few saw coming.

The actual temperature was in the mid-teens and the wind chill took it into the single digits. It was cold! 
I found myself on the back patio, despite the frigid temperatures, grilling a venison burger that was stuffed with blue cheese in the middle over a bed of hot coals.
