The Minnesota DNR and Minnesota IT Services are working to modernize the state’s electronic license system with an external licensing vendor, PayIt Outdoors.
The electronic license system is the primary way the DNR issues angling and hunting licenses and permits to people who want to fish, hunt, or trap in Minnesota. It is also used to register and title watercraft and register outdoor recreational vehicles, including snowmobiles and off-highway vehicles.

Iowa’s pheasant hunters bagged more than 590,000 roosters last fall, the most since 2007. The 62% increase in harvest was due to a strong population of pheasants and to a 32% increase in the number of pheasant hunters.

The 2024 Minnesota State Fair kicks off Thursday, Aug. 22 and continues through Labor Day, Sept. 2, at the State Fairgrounds in Falcon Heights.
Highlights this year include a celebration of 90 years of the DNR building. Built in 1934, the DNR building and park have been home to educational exhibits about the state’s environment and wildlife for nine decades. Each year, the exhibit is visited by about half a million guests, according to State Fair officials.
