Elk, ruffed grouse among topics discussed at Backcountry Hunters and Anglers’ rendezvous in Minnesota

From left to right, Patrick Berry, new BHA president and CEO; Dave Olfelt, Minnesota DNR Fish and Wildlife Division director; and Ben Jones, Ruffed Grouse Society and American Woodcock Society president and CEO, spoke on a panel about the forest conditions for ruffed grouse and woodcock. The biggest talking points centered around forest age-class diversity and developing more habitat management for these bird species. (Photo by Brian Mozey)

Backcountry Hunters and Anglers hosted its annual national rendezvous April 19-20 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. It was the first time this event was hosted in Minnesota, as it typically occurs in the western United States.
The event featured multiple seminars focusing on conservation, wildlife, and fisheries. Among them were two seminars specifically addressing topics relevant to Minnesota.
