Michigan turkey hunters can expect a spring hunting season very similar to last year according to DNR Turkey Specialist Adam Bump.
Although the Department of Natural Resources’ 2023 turkey harvest report was not yet available at press time, Bump said he didn’t expect much of a change in the harvest or hunter participation than that of the 2022 season. In 2022, 76,547 spring turkey hunters combined to kill as estimated 32,461 bearded turkeys for a 42% success rate according to the DNR’s report from that season.

It has become a different kind of outdoor wonder today. The Erie Canal is now a recreational byway that transects New York State from Buffalo to Albany for 363 miles, with a special attention on historical tourism, boating, and, yes, even fishing.

Proposed modifications to rules governing the area of north-central Ohio where chronic wasting disease (CWD) is prevalent are “process oriented,” according to Mike Reynolds, administrator of wildlife management for the Ohio Division of Wildlife.
Four proposed rule modifications will allow the division to more easily add territory to the current Disease Surveillance Area (DSA) and simplify life for hunters who kill deer there, Reynolds added.
