Located in Pennsylvania’s Luzerne and Carbon counties, the 80-acre lake is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project. Completed in 1961 and originally called Bear Creek Dam – it was renamed for a U.S. Congressman two years later upon his death – it serves to limit flooding of the Lehigh River, particularly around Allentown and Bethlehem.
