Fooling spring gobblers is never a given. Maybe this is why turkey hunting can be high-stress? Such as: An approaching gobbler is coming to you. You watch him strut in the distance as he gobbles. You’re well hidden, using soft hen calls. Your confidence is high. When he commits to your calls, suddenly he cautiously strut-walks toward you. Commentary: Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission takes no separate enforcement action in fish-kill case

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission took no separate enforcement action in the Valley Brook Country Club Pesticide Runoff Case that killed 122,586 fish in Chartiers Creek, Washington County. That was troubling.
During my 30-year career as a commission fisheries biologist and chief of the agency’s Environmental Services Division, my staff and I assisted commission law enforcement in the investigation of hundreds of water pollution incidents and fish kills.

Sizzling hot April days trigger fish kill at Lake Marburg in Pennsylvania

A spate of summer-like weather triggered a recent fish die-off at Lake Marburg in Codorus State Park, York County.
Although it isn’t unusual for fish to succumb to springtime spawning stress, a sudden spike in water temperatures made this year’s loss of white perch and gizzard shad “more intense,” according to park educator Renae Weidner.
