On the Trail with Dean Bortz: Turkey hunting and all that other jazz

The Bloomer High School jazz band won for the third time in four trips to Jazz Fest in Eau Claire, this time in Class C after winning twice previously in Class D. The band is directed by Matthew Tiller.

Hang on tight. We’re going to end up out in the weeds for a little bit this week. This one’s going to be less about turkey hunting and more about what a person might do when the Wisconsin weather takes the vinegar out of the hunter.

This is the first year in a long time where I did not kill a turkey in Zone 7 during the first season, where I mostly hunt in Vilas, Oneida, Iron, Ashland, and Price counties.
