A Pennsylvania muzzleloader hunter was found guilty Jan. 25 in the shooting death of a Texas bowhunter while they were targeting elk, separately, in the San Juan National Forest in Colorado Sept. 17, 2021.
Ronald Morosko mistook the Texas man for an elk. Sentencing is scheduled for March 31.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is staying the course with the Saturday deer season opener.
During its Jan. 28 quarterly meeting, the board voted unanimously to keep the Saturday opener in place. The motion was preliminary, and final approval will be needed at the board’s meeting in April.

The last time the 200,000 total deer kill ceiling was breached was in the 2012-2013 season when 218,910 deer were taken.
