Pennsylvania hunter guilty of fatal shooting in Colorado

A jury of 10 women and two men in Montezuma County unanimously convicted Ronald Morosko, 67, of Elizabeth, of criminally negligent homicide and hunting in a careless manner in the death of Gregory Gabrisch, 38, in the Lizard Head Wilderness Area in Dolores County.

A Pennsylvania muzzleloader hunter was found guilty Jan. 25 in the shooting death of a Texas bowhunter while they were targeting elk, separately, in the San Juan National Forest in Colorado Sept. 17, 2021.
Ronald Morosko mistook the Texas man for an elk. Sentencing is scheduled for March 31.
