A significant fish kill in the Greenstone area of northwestern Ontario – during National Fishing Week in Canada – has left many lakes and rivers in the area littered with carcasses (all walleyes?) and residents concerned. For the complete story, click here.
An Idaho fisherman won $1,000 after catching a reward-tagged walleye in the Lake Pend Oreille Angler Incentive Program. It’s the fourth $1,000 walleye to be caught in the program. Rattlesnake Relocation (Columbia County) On June 20, ECO Jeff Cox received a call from a concerned homeowner in Copake reporting a large rattlesnake on their front porch. NORTHERN REGION Ashland Team/June Warden Matt Koshollek, of Drummond, assisted the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department with a rash of thefts from cabins, businesses and boats in the Lake Namekagon area near Cable. There were reports of stolen fishing rods, gas, boat motors and fish finders. Bayfield County deputies arrested two men responsible for the thefts
