Southeast Pennsylvania Fishing Report – July 31st, 2015

Octararo Lake (Lancaster County) — Jim Neary’s Bait & Tackle reported fantastic perch fishing as of July 16, with fish weighing up to 1 pound,  4 ounces. Small chunks of crawlers on the bottom, or little crankbaits were the tickets.

A good to excellent bass bite was reported on chatterbaits with trailers before 8:30 a.m. The rest of the day, plastic worms rigged wacky-style were effective around blow-downs and similar structure. In a recent tournament, a 4-pound, 3-ounce smallmouth was the lunker, taken on a chatterbait.

Nice channel catfish catches were reported on green crawlers after rainfall and on shiners under most other conditions. Neary weighed four cats over 10 pounds each. The crappie bite was almost non-existent, but a few wallees were reported on crankbaits near the covered bridge.
