Yellow perch are one star. Multiple surveys done by Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission biologists over the past 15 years – as well as angler reports – indicate a lot of them reach nice sizes.

On Lake Ontario, lake trout fishing has been more consistent and fish are being taken near bottom in 150 to 200 foot of water.

The 3-pounder bests the previous mark by 2 ounces.

Rules of the road to get the most bang for your buck.

The biggest news has been some decent smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and northern pike action.

In particular, fishermen who like to target panfish in spring will find this lake a really nice alternative.

While the lake has a 14-inch size limit and a five-fish daily bag limit, local fishermen release most of their fish in an effort to keep size and numbers above average for the area.

The yellow perch bite, in particular, is going strong in a number of locations.
