Generally, the most action has been to the east so that’s where most anglers have been heading.

Steelhead are being caught throughout the Salmon River.

Fishing pressure is light with a few cars seen at each parking spot on the Oak.

With some great species to target through the ice in New York, and so many lakes and ponds open to ice fishing in our state, it can be difficult to choose where to start.

By most accounts it has been a pretty good season so far, with solid numbers of steelhead spread throughout the creeks.

These days, it’s all about the bass. The regular black bass season closes Nov. 30, but the catch-and-release season continues in all but a few northern counties.

Fishing pressure is light with most guys reporting a few steelhead and/or browns.

The bass fishing season is winding down. On the bright side, if you head out to fish bass – or any species, for the most part – you should have plenty of room to work
