With nicer weather reportedly on the way, look for crappies and panfish to be staged just outside those traditional spring locations, but expect them to start making a big push to the shallows as water

With water temperatures rising, the bite should continue to improve on fisheries across the state.

Steelhead and suckers are in the rivers and light numbers of fish have been caught by anglers wading and fishing from shore.

Fishing has warmed up nicely, and overall, the bite remains very strong, with water temps here still hovering around 43 degrees. Perch bite has been especially strong.

After the surprise opener on April 7, trout fishing was good in lots of stocked streams, but the bite was reported to stronger in some than in others. And before that, the panfish were biting.

The bite should warm up with the temps, and don’t forget that shore fishing, where possible, can be productive this time of year.
