Most fish are being caught in 23 to 28 feet of water.

Discussing the current ice conditions and the specific pattern that is putting over 60 walleyes and 2-pound perch on the ice in a single day.

With murky waters, spinners are good lures to use because of the vibration.

As the weather and water flows go ahead, so will the chance for productive drifts in the smaller waterways.

Conditions are definitely improving in the metro and ice fishing is here.

Smallmouth bass are likely in their wintering areas here, in deeper pools and areas of lower current. They will be schooled up when you find them.

The upper drifts here are producing a mix of steelhead, lake trout and brown trout, while catches in the lower drifts are dominated by brown trout.

There’s ice on lakes across the state, but be careful out there. There are reports of anglers catching fish, but that’s been a bit spotty, too.
