The days are already starting to get shorter, but July (and August) usually mean hot weather and hot bass fishing, too.

Walleye are still biting up here, perch action is good, and the bass season is just getting going.

On Lake Ontario, some brown trout are being taken in 40 to 90 foot of water. Salmon are being caught in 150 to 400 foot of water on flashers and flies fished 60 to 150

Fishing activity and catches picked up over the past week on Lake Ontario and its tributaries.

Out on the bigger lakes, the salmon and lake trout fishing should be productive.

Anglers targeting walleyes, pike and muskies (especially in the Great Lakes) are just getting started.

Rain and cool weather putting a bit of a damper on the fishing. But good reports on the Great Lakes, particularly for salmon.

On Lake Ontario, brown trout fishing has been challenging but some are being caught in 40 foot of water by anglers trolling with spoons or stickbaits early in the morning.

By now the trout stocking trucks and choppers should have made their runs and usually when the black flies are biting, so are the trout.
