Expect walleyes to be shallow this weekend and actively feeding with the spawn now wrapped or just about done in most areas.

The spring crappie fishing continues to heat up and we’re seeing some solid patterns developing. Water temps are getting to where they need to be (and are finally staying there).

Generally, things are just getting started, the bulk of the panfish being caught have been small, but look for these shallow areas to start holding big numbers of fish by this weekend.

Welcome back to open water, and starting things off with some crappie action. No doubt we’re off to a slow start in regards to weather and conditions, but open water is here and opportunities present

The ice is long gone and water temps will hopefully be warming soon on the area lakes. The crappies have started moving from their wintering holes and staging to make a run to the spring

The persistent cool and windy conditions have prevented anglers from getting out and start looking for panfish in those traditional spring spots.

If you want to go ice fishing this weekend, you have quite a few options to do so, and quite comfortably, in northern Minnesota.

Despite favorable conditions, the number of people fishing through the ice has dropped off considerably, but if you want to get at least one more weekend on the ice, you have options.

If you want to keep fishing through the ice, you’re going to have head north.
