DULUTH AREA Island Lake is producing walleyes on leeches in 15 to 20 feet and Fish Lake is giving up panfish in less than six feet. Smallmouth bass have been very active along the shorelines
ALEXANDRIA AREA Walleyes continue to hit leeches and minnows during low-light periods on Lake Mary in eight to 12 feet, Lake Victoria in 18 to 20 feet, and Lake Miltona in 12 to 14 feet.
LAKE MINNETONKA AREA Bass fishing has been consistent on the four- to 10-foot inside weed edges of Lake Minnetonka, Medicine Lake, and Lake Sarah. Look for crappies in the 14- to 18-foot weeds on Minnetonka
Cayuga Lake: Trolling in 80 to 160 feet of water with spoons or flasher and flies, fished off downriggers, copper wire, or Dipsey Divers was producing lake trout. Vertical jigging was also working for lake
Chain: Walleye action is hot and heavy around current areas, bridges and shallows. They have been biting on minnows and nightcrawlers in afternoon. Bass and bluegills are either on their beds or getting there. Muskies
Crab Orchard Lake: Anglers are reporting that crappies are being found at depths ranging from about 6 to 10 feet. Most are in heavy cover near points. The best baits have been minnows and jigs.
Lake Taylorville: Crappie bite picking up on minnows. Bass slow. Water conditions are murky. Banner Marsh: Bass are fair on plastics, spinnerbaits or chatterbaits and fair at the east side. Bluegills are slow to fair
Fox River: Smallmouths are hitting on jigs with white or crawfish colored twister tails. Most are still hanging around the bottom, in gravel beds. Work the jig slow and fish the current seams and slack
ASHLAND AREA Fishing has been good, with water levels dropping to near normal for this time of year. Bears with young cubs are being seen; fawns too. Angler’s All, (715) 682-5754. River Rock, (715) 682-3232.
