Do hunters really need a 3½-inch shell? Well, you do if you want more. A 3½-inch shell gives you more of everything. More is better when you’re talking about pellets downrange.
Those 3½-inch shells give you 1⁄8- to a ¼-ounce more shot above a 3-inch payload, and sometimes they’re faster, too. However, more is not better when the topic is recoil. Heavier, faster payloads kick harder. It’s physics. And more is never better when the topic is price.
