A state legislator is continuing his effort to bring alleged harassment allegations made by former employees against the Pennsylvania Game Commission to the table.
State Rep. Dave Maloney, R-Berks County, who also serves as the Republican chair of the House Game and Fisheries Committee, sent a letter addressed to his fellow committee members requesting a hearing to discuss the matter.

A state legislator who has long been vocal on hunting and fishing issues and who has been a thorn in the side of the Pennsylvania Game Commission confirmed he will not seek re-election at the end of this year.
Berks County Republican Dave Maloney, who has served in the House since 2010 and was the minority chair of the Game and Fisheries Committee, said his decision not to run for a ninth term was based on his desire to leave a “corrupt” political system.

Two tainted Pennsylvania creeks taken off trout-stocking list

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission removed two streams from its trout stocking list after high levels of a “forever chemical” were found in sampled fish tissue.
On Feb. 27, the agency said trout stocking will discontinue in Briar Creek in Columbia County and Middle Spring Creek in Cumberland and Franklin counties.

After the rifle deer season ends in Pennsylvania, my shift turns to rabbit hunting with my beagles. For a few weeks, however, deep snow and frigid temperatures put a temporary halt on running the dogs, so my outdoor activity was relegated to walking across the white expanse with snowshoes instead. Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission is monitoring ‘forever chemicals’ at hatchery

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission is monitoring the fish produced at its state hatcheries for levels of forever chemicals, and the matter has caught the attention of state lawmakers.
During the Feb. 4 House Game and Fisheries Committee meeting with the agency’s Executive Director Tim Schaeffer, Rep. Dave Maloney, R-Berks, asked about the situation at the Benner Spring hatchery.
“I understand that there’s a tremendous concern, at least out at one of the hatcheries, with forever chemicals,” said Maloney.

Lawmakers nix debate on claims made against Pennsylvania Game Commission

Two Pennsylvania senators propose bill for Monday deer opener

A pair of state senators have teamed up on plans to introduce legislation that would reinstate the Monday opening day of rifle deer season in Pennsylvania.
On Feb. 12, Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Lycoming, and Sen. Lisa Boscola, D-Northampton, released a co-sponsorship memo that referenced a recent attempt by the Pennsylvania Game Commission board to move the opener to the Saturday before Thanksgiving as basis for a return to Monday.
