Little Falls, Minn. A proposal to implement catch-and-release trout regulations on Little Rock Creek will be the focus of a public input meeting to be held Sept. 18.
Little Rock Creek is a coldwater stream in Morrison and Benton counties that’s managed for brown trout. “Catch and release only” regulations are being proposed by the DNR to help build a self-sustaining trout population. Although the 2001 bear season doesn’t wrap up until mid-October, harvest numbers at this point indicate a better season than last year. “It’s gone pretty well in most areas,” said DNR bear project leader Dave Garshelis. “It looks like we’re up approximately 20-percent statewide from last season at this point.”
