Recently-formed Raystown Chapter becomes Pennsylvania’s ninth Pheasants Forever chapter

Pennsylvania has nine Pheasants Forever chapters, including the recently formed Raystown Chapter.
The Raystown Pheasants Forever Chapter began in the spring of 2024 and works to improve wildlife habitat as well as further the organization’s mission in Huntingdon, Blair, Fulton and Bedford counties.

Flintlock group lobbies for fall primitive season in Pennsylvania

All good things must come to an end. Or do they? When it comes to the only flintlock-specific muzzleloader season in the country, the Pennsylvania Federation of Black Powder Shooters certainly hopes not.
However, recent hunting season changes led to concern over the future of traditional muzzleloading in the Keystone State. Specifically, there has been increased inclusion of centerfire rifles during a timeframe traditionally reserved for flintlocks or archery.

Shoot indoor archery to stay sharp with your bow skills this offseason

The onset of the winter months often signal down time for outdoorsmen. With most hunting seasons coming to a close and cold weather slowing fish metabolisms, a popular winter activity throughout Pennsylvania is indoor archery shoots.

Celebrating 50 years of Pennsylvania’s flintlock season

Sneaking along the ridge, snow crunched under the young man’s boots. A gust of wind swept right through his coat, chilling him to the bone. He adjusted his collar, pulling it against the cold.
Thoughts of his fireplace and the cabin’s warmth filled his mind. How he longed to return to its security and escape the blustery elements. Stopping wasn’t an option though. Not yet. Onward the hunter pushed in pursuit of venison for the winter months ahead.
