Not so today, and you don’t have to look farther than the Michigan waterfowl stamp program to see the benefits. The stamp program, which was begun by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in 1976 and has evolved into a partnership with the Michigan Duck Hunters Association (MDHA), puts cash into projects from hanging duck houses to fixing up handicap accessible blinds.

Michigan may relinquish title as Midwest’s highest deer harvest state

Michigan may relinquish its title of having the largest deer harvest in the Midwest after results are finalized from the state’s first mandatory deer reporting system.
Wisconsin hunters reported killing 331,805 deer in 2022, according to statistics gathered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, during what has been labeled a pretty good season. Wisconsin firearms hunters in particular had reason to celebrate, killing 14% more deer during their Nov. 19-27 season than in 2021.
