Pennsylvania takes final action on extending length of legal trout

Pennsylvania Fish & Boat commissioners finalized new regulations increasing the minimum legal size for trout and standardizing a method for measuring fish at their July 27 meeting here.
The board voted unanimously to make final rulemaking on extending the minimum size limit for trout from 7 to 9 inches long, effective Jan. 1. The new longer size limit is intended to provide more protection for wild trout, according to commission staff. It is the first such action taken since the agency extended the trout minimum size from 6 to 7 inches long in 1983.
