Wisconsin’s elk herd is expected to total more than 600 animals this spring, and the fall hunt includes new subunits in the hunting zones.
The Natural Resources Board (NRB) received the update on the elk population at its May 27 meeting, just as biologists received notice of the birth of a new elk calf the night before.
