I hit my breaking point somewhere around 10,800 feet. I was five days into my first archery elk hunt, running on too little food, too little sleep, and far too much stubbornness, so I snapped.
I was exhausted, frustrated, and completely out of my depth. I turned that frustration on my husband and hunting partner, and then, after cursing him out through crocodile tears, I turned inward.
