Dan Ladd: Looking back on a deer season of milestones

Like many hunters, at the time of this writing I’m spending the final days of 2025 reflecting on another deer season. Even though this one is still going on courtesy of the late (later) muzzleloading season in New York’s Southern Zone known as the Holiday Week Hunt, which I do intend to partake in at some point.
When gathering with friends and relatives during the Christmas holiday the expected question, “how was your deer season?” once again popped up on several occasions.
