Brood XIV cicadas popping up across Pennsylvania to the benefit of turkeys

They’re baaaaaaack!
The cicadas have returned to parts of Pennsylvania. After 17 years underground, the large, clumsy insects from Brood XIV have started emerging to breed in parts of the United States, including the Keystone State. And no creature is happier about their emergence than the wild turkey. For those big birds, a cicada emergence can be the buffet of a lifetime –  it can be a month-long smorgasbord 17 years in the making.
