After a team of commercial fishers spent the morning punching holes in the ice, feeding a seine through the holes, and using various sounds to drive fish toward the net, the Asian carp they hoped to net were no-shows.
Despite knowing there’s a school of Asian carp holed up for the winter under the ice of the Mississippi River east of Winona, Minn., commercial fisherman Tim Adams and his team couldn’t drum them up the direction they wanted on Wednesday, Jan. 15.
“Even with driving techniques, sometimes the fish will not move toward the net.”
