Ohio Insider: Oregon initiative shows the threat to hunting, fishing, trapping is real

Oregon Initiative Petition 3 would have banned all hunting, trapping, fishing, and ranching in that West Coast state on the grounds that those activities are cruel to animals. It did not qualify for the November ballot. (Stock photo)

The proposal, first introduced in 2022, would have removed all animal cruelty exemptions, in essence criminalizing all hunting, fishing, trapping, animal husbandry, pest removal, and more. The sportsmen and farming communities rallied against the proposal with the support of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF).
