More than 100 high school anglers from 22 states were hoping to reel in scholarships from college coaches at the third annual Skeeter Bassmaster High School Combine on Wheeler Lake in Decatur, Ala.
The event, which took place Sept. 15-18, is seen as an opportunity to meet individually with prospective anglers and evaluate talent from a wider swath of the country, which is critical for coaches. At least one Illinois college was set to participate.
