What color is that fish, and why?

It was not a long-lost remnant of the now-extinct blue pike a.k.a. blue walleye, which was once common in Lake Erie. Rather, blue walleyes these days are the result of a genetic abnormality that turns the normal greenish hues in the walleye skin to bluish colors.
