The Pennsylvania Game Commission has overhauled its Hunter Access Program this year in an effort to boost declining landowner participation and increase opportunities for hunters.
With enrolled properties at about 600,000 acres – down 77% from a peak of 2.6 million acres – the commission has launched a new website to handle bookings, with a digital map showing clear boundaries and land-use rules set by owners. Landowners can specify which species and types of hunting they will allow, and whether they will permit Sunday hunting.

Over the course of our three-months-plus bowhunting season, seeing just one wall-hanger buck can be cause for celebration. Trophy proportioned bucks are careful critters that use hunter’s missteps to avoid ending up on buck poles.
When hunters plan well by putting minimal pressure on deer, nice bucks can frequent trail camera captures and stand sites. In turn, even when bucks do not present high percentage shots, buck sightings can still be fairly common. The Minnesota DNR celebrated the 75th anniversary of the state’s wildlife management area (WMA) system, inviting past leaders to celebrate their combined efforts throughout the decades.
The celebration was held at one of Minnesota’s newest WMAs at Keystone Woods, northwest of Stillwater. The event was held Thursday, Sept. 10. An event tent was set up with facts and figures following the system’s history, while highlighting WMAs located throughout the state.
