Like most open water fishing seasons, assessments from anglers, guides, and others dialed into the Minnesota fishing scene are offering mixed reviews for the front half of the 2026 campaign.
From that first cast in mid-April, to the staggering heat that arrived this week, enough time has passed to fairly gauge how fishing has been so far. Weather conditions, especially the wind, has almost earned as much conversation as local bites around most bait shop counters.
